The National Police have arrested a couple of drug addicts with long criminal histories for a mugging in Son Gotleu, Palma.

The incident happened on 21 January at 4.30pm when a young man was returning home. In the doorway to the block of apartments in which he lives with his family were the two suspects injecting drugs.

The male suspect, aged 34 with some 26 offences on his record, and a 39-year-old woman with numerous convictions jumped the youngster and threatened him with one of their used needles. They forced him to hand over his mobile and his wallet and took anything of interest from his rucksack.

The two then fled the scene but they were immediately reported to the police, who were eventually able to track the two down and arrest them on Thursday.
