There are weather warnings for today, the first day of spring, and tomorrow in the Balearics, with high winds, rough coastal conditions and some snow forecast. Waves of between four and six metres can be expected, and there are amber alerts for the coasts.

Snow is forecast to fall down to 500 metres today and 300 metres tomorrow. Temperatures will struggle to reach highs of 12 and 13C.

Civil Protection is offering the usual advice for travelling in these conditions, such as ensuring you have warm clothing and a mobile phone. Particular advice is to avoid coastal areas and to certainly not put oneself at risk by taking "spectacular" photos.

Although warmer weather is expected by Friday and Saturday, it may well turn cold again on Sunday. Rain is forecast for the weekend.
