Temperatures in parts of Majorca are forecast to reach 40C (104F) on Friday and Saturday. On Monday, maximums were up to five degrees higher than is typical for the time of year. Calvia registered 35.9C and was the hottest place on the island.

The Aemet met agency says that there was a slight fall in temperatures yesterday but that they were still just above what is normal for July. In the interior, the maximums were around 31C; on the coast they were a couple of degrees lower. The temperature will go up again today and peak on Friday and Saturday.
