On Thursday morning, the radical youth organisation Arran hung a banner from the wall in front of Palma Cathedral. It read: "Enough massive tourism. Tourism businesses guilty."

The spokesperson for the town hall, Susanna Moll (councillor for education and sport), said that she didn't know when or if the banner would be taken down as she was unaware of there having as yet been any requests for it to be removed. She added that the banner does not dirty any walls (as it isn't graffiti) or cause direct damage to heritage.

"Everyone has the right to protest," Moll explained. "We are moving forward with a sustainable model for employment creation, with respect for our cultural and architectural heritage, and we are counteracting the damage that can be caused by mass tourism".
