Prime Minister Johnson confirmed on Sunday evening that it will "soon be time for quarantine on people coming into this country by air". This measure, which had been expected, was part of a roadmap that the prime minister set out for the UK moving to level three of a five-level alert system, the UK having been at level four since lockdown.

I know people always are skeptical as it comes to China (or Asia for that matter), but I wish our Western, so called civilised governments would have acted like the chinese, taiwanese, vietnamese and korean governements have done. The world has no idea how brutally China locked down Wuhan and no clue how effectively data gets managed in China and surrounding countries. We laugh about them, but they are laughing now.
First of all why now? two months after daily flight into Heathrow broght in thousands of passengers per day from China, USA, Middle East, who were not even asked to self isolate! the reasoning was they were Brits brought in back home as though Brits were immune to the infection or passing it on. BJ guidance yesterday was nothing but confusion in colossal scale. stay in , do not stay in. Go to work, do not go work, and so for and so on.. Really Mr Johnson???
Stuart, France is a special case as most people arrive by Eurotunnel and ferry. There would not be a similar deal with Spain. This effectively means anyone taking a two week holiday to Spain (when its open) would be required to take 4 weeks off work. The 2 week quarantine requirement will last at least until Sept. So people can pontificate all they like about will there/won't there be tourists from the UK, but this effectively kills tourism to Spain for all those other than retirees (who should stay at home anyway) or unemployed people (who have no money).
Constant whinging about the situation and whether you personally agree with it or not does nothing to make the situation better...if those who like to complain most were prepared to stand up and be counted then they should be politicians, but as always there are more 'armchair politicians' than any other kind!!!...and whatever your political ideology who would want to be one at this moment in time?....from the comments on this article and many others in recent weeks you know who you are so 'if the cap fits wear it"!!
Well if there was any doubt at all that British tourists wouldn't be coming to Mallorca this summer then this is the final nail in the coffin!
Apart from travel to and from France!Boris has reached an agreement with France P M that Restrictions do not apply to U.K. and France. Would feel safer in China at the rate the U.K. parliament are “managing” this pandemic. Will see if the new Labour leader is any good this week by asking the right questions, Stay safe
And I thought the Spanish government was confused?
The quarantine has been adjusted so that it does not apply to travel between UK and France and vice versa so there is the potential that other countries may also make a similar agreement
