Temperatures are on the up and up in Majorca again and the State Meteorological Agency, Aemet is forecasting highs of at least 30 degrees over the next few days.

The heat will gradually intensify across the whole country and Aemet has already activated a hot weather alert in six communities in central and southwestern areas of the country and the mercury is expected to hover around 39 degrees in Extremadura.

The dreaded tropical nights return from Wednesday with lows of 22 degrees in Palma and Sóller and 21 in Formentera and Ibiza.

The rest of the week will be sunny with cloudy intervals in northeastern areas of Majorca and in Minorca and there might even be a shower or two.

Aemet is predicting higher daytime temperatures and a slight cool down overnight towards the end of the week, with a welcome southeasterly breeze in the Pitiusas and a warm westerly wind in coastal areas.
