Spain's Canary Islands have passed a law obliging tourists visiting the archipelago's hotels to present a negative COVID-19 test result as part of efforts to prevent imported infections. Located around 60 miles off Morocco's Atlantic coast, the chain of seven islands is popular among sun-seeking northern Europeans, especially during the winter, when half its tourism revenues are generated.

Juan, you are missing the point completely. I give up.
Sara. If you Claim that by saying most of those from Africa are in Majorca illegally and do not contribute the economy as much as ex Pats (Who far, far far MORE of them do, obviously), is racist, then you are one of those people who idly throws this word around without understanding what it even means.
@Juan love, your comment proves my point. And as an aside I’m not sure that every single one of those “ex Pats” you mention are actually here legally. By all accounts there appear to be a large number who have never registered, something they should do within the first three months of arriving otherwise they are here illegally.
Mark and Sara I absolutely agree. I cannot believe this paper would print a comment like that. It’s disgusting. Seeing the amount of people who agree with it makes me really sad. Now is a time to be kind.
So Sara. O: You are comparing ex Pats (who legally come to Spain and whose pensions have been contributing to a large part of the Spanish economy for many years), to other free for all immigrants from Africa?
You’ve just shot yourself in the foot ,people aren’t going to pay for tests on top of the rip off prices the holiday companies and airlines are going to charge
Ridiculous! It is the airlines that must not bring positive passengers. They have to check their documentation anyway, so what's the problem with being made to check a test certificate?
Well said Mark Badoer. I very rarely agree with your comments (at least those related to Covid) but on this subject I certainly do. There are far too many racist comments posted on the MDB, probably mostly by those who are immigrants themselves but prefer to use the colonial term of ‘ex-pat’ and think they are a cut above those migrants from other shores.
I truly cannot believe MDB keeps allowing comments like that from Nigel. It is dumb, populist and racist and says a lot about the people running this paper. I am seriously considering seeking legal guidance to have this denounced. For the last 6 months I have screen saved all comments like this as evidence. And you cannot say it is "readers reactions" as plenty of other reactions, including several of mine, have been filtered out. Same for the most + voted comment on your recent photo quiz, as it was negative about MDB.
Have they told the immigrants from Africa?
