The Palma Met Office issued a heat warning for today forecasting high temperatures throughout the day. Earlier on Monday the Met Office issued a warning for the whole country with temperatures expected to reach the 40 degrees Centigrade mark.

A Met office spokesperson said "we are on yellow alert. The temperatures could rise even further tomorrow..."
