Local state schools will soon be adding Islamic studies to their curriculum, bringing schools in-line with the rest of the country.

A pilot scheme will be launched in schools in ses Salines and Loseta at the start of the new term. If it is successful then it will be launched at learning centres across the island.

Almost 1,000 students have asked for Islamic studies to be included on the school curriculum.
