Palma police are hunting a group of "scrooge" thieves who have carried out at least five robberies in the Palma Christmas markets in the Plaza España, Calle Olmos and Plaza Mayor.

They strike in the dead of night and they usually target the jewellery stalls. So far police have been informed of at least five robberies.

Police patrols in the areas will be stepped up.
