In direct numbers from Russian visitors the minister is probably correct. I fear it will be the secondary effects of this conflict that will trouble tourism everywhere. The increasing energy and transportation fuel costs will influence demand for holidays across Europe. Average commute 40miles/ day latest fuel rise will cost extra £1000 year. Electric and gas increase forecast £1550 year. U.K. one of the least affected by cost increase although hit by market price. Confidence is everything and price shocks will hit discretionary spend. I think the minister needs to widen here vision some what.
It will not be the amount of Ukranian or Russian tourists not coming to Spain which will effect the market but the uncertanty of the conflict excilating. This happened with the last two gulf wars where both the German and UK tourist market was drastically reduced becaue of a war on the "other side of the world", I would have thought a Tourism Minister would have these facts and know what she was talking about.
