A runner was seriously injured on Friday morning when he was hit by a cyclist near to the Jaume II military base in Palma.

The accident occurred around ten minutes before ten. He was running downhill along the bike lane from the roundabout by the base. A group of cyclists came down the same stretch, and one of the cyclists rode into him. He was knocked to the ground and hit his head.

The cyclists stopped and called the emergency services. An ambulance with mobile ICU went to the scene, and the runner was taken to Son Espases. He has severe head injury and is in a serious condition.

Palma police are investigating how the accident happened.
