The organisation has lodged a claim of illegal occupation of the public maritime domain against the restaurant and is insisting that work carried out years ago should be demolished and that the area be restored to what it was prior to the construction of the original property (a bungalow), which goes way back to 1912.
The owners have used this property as a restaurant for forty years and have reiterated on numerous occasions that they do not agree with the demolition order. They say that they will chain themselves to the restaurant if necessary. It occupies a space of 437 square metres and has the necessary activity licence.
However, there is an issue regarding a Costas concession. The ministry has in fact turned down this concession and given a period of six months for demolition. GOB's claim is "a matter of form", given that a request for a concession cannot be processed. Even so, the owners are clear that before the bungalow there was only rock and not beach.

40 years a family run restaurant sitting on the prom edge. A little bit of early tourism industry character. Doing family style business causing no trouble . Hardly a spectacular isolated beach either. If the environmental people want to save the island then close the honey pots pile them high resorts. With high quality cultural events of naked customers bouncers throwing competition. Breakfast beer drinking feasts. And of course the resultant waste from the current business model activity. The island would then return to the ideal paradise of pre mass tourism time. I used to stay at the Forte Villamil. The bar used to have pictures of early Pagurea. They showed the house that became that hotel perched on rocks above the rocky beaches, no sand or prom back then. The early hotel with elegant people on riva power boats enjoying the island. The hotel now a international owned luxury Inclusive style resorts with a “sky bar.” The question I ask what’s the difference between these to enterprises environmental impact, they both have similar histories after all.
The real stain is these pathetic unemployable lazy smelly good for nothing environmentalists. They are in the minority, dont listen to them, they stink.
I want a beer. I want a burger. So now, I must drag a cooler and a grill to the families afternoon frolic by the sea? My God! These mirthless and perpetually aggrieved people just won't stop.
