Johnny CJohnny Johnny Johnny, your first comment made no sense, but i ignored that. You say " how would it be fair if they didn’t pay tax when income tax is paid by everyone who has actually worked hard to make their money?". So you throw in a pool your ALREADY TAXED money, for someone to win it (could be you as well) based on luck. And that feels right? For all the examples you mentioned, some are already solved (for example how many friends do you have with private health insurance?). Johnny, it's the 21st century, you live in a developed country, you have access to the internet. Don't use it just to read this site and ask childish questions in the comment sections. Use the search engines for these questions. You have chat gpt now, talk to him, tell him your concerns...
GabrielWhich planet do you live on?? Every country can function because they collect taxes. How are they supposed to pay for all the public services without tax revenue? Perhaps your ideal world is one where every citizen pays for every service privately? You need to see a doctor – you pay and visit a private doctor; you want to send your child to school – you pay to send them to a private school; your house catches fire – you’ll pay for someone who has a big truck full of water and some hoses to come and extinguish it for you; there’s a terrorist on the rampage in your town – you’ll contract a private army to neutralise him; the street where you live is pitch black at night – you’ll pop out every hour and put some more money in meter. The list is endless…….
Johnny CAnd don't get me started on income tax. Working hard to give almost half of it to the government. Legal robbery...
Johnny CEverybody participating in that lottery did it knowing they contribute to the pool of money that goes to the one that had the luck to get his numbers drawn. Whether it's themselves or another one. As simple as that. Now, don't tell me that to facilitate this, millions of euros are needed every day...
GabrielI think you’re looking at this wrong way round. It’s the lottery winners who have ‘made’ millions for doing absolutely nothing except for buying a ticket. So how would it be fair if they didn’t pay tax when income tax is paid by everyone who has actually worked hard to make their money?
So ridiculous how 20% from all the lottery winnings go into their pockets for doing absolutely nothing. Every day, from every lottery draw, millions and millions of euros ....
