'Kamikaze' driver causes panic on Palma's Via Cintura

The Guardia Civil are studying traffic camera footage in seeking to identify a driver who caused panic on the Via Cintura in Palma on Tuesday evening - he drove several kilometres in the wrong direction.

The 112 emergencies number was inundated with calls around 8.30pm. Palma Police and Guardia Civil vehicles were sent to try and intercept the driver, who witnesses described as "a senior gentleman", but they were unable to.

One of the drivers who witnessed the scene explained that he was with his son near to the Son Moix Stadium heading in the Andratx direction. A car was coming straight towards him close to the central reservation. "I had to brake in order to avoid him, like many others who were behind me. I was shocked."

TC😄 That's the problem with foreigners. They all think it's perfectly ok to drive on the wrong side of the road. And if you try to drive on the "correct" side, somebody will crash into you AND it'll be YOUR fault. Unbelievable.

Phoned the wife on Tuesday night. Said there was someone driving on the wrong side of the motorway, someone she said, there is f**King hundreds of them.
