Motorcyclist dies after head-on collision with a truck

A 51-year-old motorcyclist, identified as D.R.L., died on Friday morning after colliding head-on with a truck on the road between Porreres and Vilafranca.

Emergency services were called shortly before 11am. The motorcyclist, who was heading in the Porreres direction on the MA-5101, had lost control of his Suzuki GSX-R on a bend and collided with the truck.

As a result of the impact, he was thrown several metres into a field. Paramedics were unable to save him; death had been almost instantaneous.

The Guardia Civil are attributing the fatal accident to motorcyclist error.
