On Wednesday around 9pm, Palma firefighters were called to a blaze on land in the Son Cladera district.

During the course of the firefighting operation, a body was discovered in a cistern. As this was quite deep, the recovery of the body was not straightforward.

The National Police homicide squad was notified and investigations have begun. The body was that of a 35-year-old Romanian man who had lived in a tent in the area for some years.

An autopsy will be carried out on Thursday.
