These are my thoughts of the week regarding A Tourist, A Friend, the rise in the tourist tax and the problems affecting local restaurants at the moment.

Not excellent but a good attempt. Improve the background and camera angle, layout your text beforehand and remember - intro, body, strong ending. Oh the good old days which you and me remember well. It is the very success of tourism which has boosted the resident population to the point we are now at, too many people, too many cars throughout the year. And the riches here now attract the poor and the criminal wanting to cash in on our good fortune. Tourism and resident population, both close to saturation, are two entirely different issues needing different strategies. The good old days will never come back but el menu del dia hasn't dissappeared in the pueblos yet. So now and again forget Palma and its coastal tourist strips and go out to a pueblo for lunch. Take Andy Valente with you and make copy.
I hope this was just a trial and you don't think that you can be a presenter, maybe get someone who can voice your thoughts. Honestly, this is very amateur
An excellent podcast Jason and sums up the situation in Majorca this year perfectly. Those of us non resident but property owners have cut down on going out to eat, even in our favourite restaurants not because we can’t afford to, but we don’t believe the increased prices represent value for money. We understand that overheads have gone up, but you were spot in regarding the menu del dia. Ok smaller margins but if you can get the volume the restaurant and staff are kept busy and more importantly employed. From a British non resident point of view the fact that the new EES system has been kicked into the long grass and may be abandoned altogether along with the 90 day rule was very welcome, but it’s delay yet again was probably too late to save the British half term visitor numbers who anecdotally have opted for Turkey and Morocco with no bureaucratic entry and exit system. I think next week depending on numbers of Brits arriving or not their will be much navel gazing and reflection all round on what has been a torrid year for Majorca.
