AS level pass rate (Y12 students) 97%
63% of the awards given were for grade A (highest grade possible at this level).
As is customary at Queen’s, students in Year 12 and 13, together with their parents, came into school to receive their A and AS level results in person. They were met by their tutors and the Senior Management team who gave them their statement of results before confirming university destinations with Year 13 students and subjects to be studied next year in the case of Year 12.
Needless to say, given the excellent results achieved, the atmosphere throughout the morning was one of celebration. School was delighted with these results obtained in what was students’ first full session of external exams since June 2019 and one they faced with even more trepidation than usual given that, since the onset of the pandemic, student grades had been based on teacher predictions and assessments.
The success obtained is, as a result, even more commendable. It is due, in no small part, to the fact that since September 2020 all students were back in the classroom full time. In spite of all the Covid restrictions, teachers and students alike continued to give of their best, demonstrating not only their capacity for teaching and learning but also their resilience.
Many students have already left the island to take up their university places. Destinations include France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, UK, and USA. The variety of courses chosen is great and includes Theoretical Physics, Business Analytics, Fashion and Liberal Arts & Sciences.
Prizes and diplomas were given out at a special ceremony held on Friday 26 August.
