Forest Fun for Year 1 & 3 and Halloween celebrations at Queen's College
Explore the Stone Age
Year 3 we are learning about life in the Stone Age, they have been exploring their theme in various ways. They have been reading the book, ‘Stone Age Boy’ and using the story to write their own versions. The children then went into the forest to build mini Stone Age settlements using natural woodland materials. Next week the children will be designing cave drawings in a similar way to their Stone Age ancestors.
Forest fun for Year1
Earlier in the week the Year 1 children dodged the October showers and stepped out into the forest on their walk up to the adventure playground. They had a wonderful morning in the woodland area.
Witches, cats and huge black bats!
The Halloween celebrations at Queen’s College was a spooky affair! The children had great fun exchanging their school uniform for HALLOWEEN costumes! Classrooms were bathed in cobwebs, pumpkins graced every surface and broomsticks could be spotted in the corners of each room! The children wore cloaks and pointed, sparkly, witch-like hats. Some children sourced gruesome masks, zombies mingled with magical cats, fluttery bats and creepy crawlies scuttled across every surface! Lanterns glimmered as the lights were dimmed and spooky stories were exchanged. The children made wonderful paintings and pastel drawings of haunted houses, glowing full moons and dark forests. Many children brought in Halloween inspired cupcakes to share. It was a BOO-tiful day!
