They all seem to be crunch games for Mallorca, and this was no different. A win against mid-table Tenerife, who have only an outside chance of raising themselves into a play-off spot, was certainly going to come in handy in the fight against relegation.
A reasonable start for Mallorca, with Pereira drawing a save after five minutes, but worryingly Tenerife began to get a hold of the game, Lozano twice and Omar bringing stops out of Wellenreuther, with a near effort by Sissoko the only riposte from Mallorca.
In a second half during which both teams pressed for dominance but neither achieved it, it looked as though things might have petered out into a nil-all. And then ... a potentially massive moment for Mallorca, as Ortuño headed them into the lead in the 79th minute. Omar went close for Tenerife four minutes later but Mallorca had got those so vital three points.

I sometimes wonder if I´m watching the same game as your football reporter. However, I know I am as I sit quite near him in the stand! Saturday´s game was scrappy with neither side showing much passion for winning. Mallorca´s No 9 should have been taken off long before the match ended as he was abysmal. Fortunately, the ball hit his head very late in the game and it went in the goal - he knew very little about it. Still, a win is a win and Goodness knows Mallorca needed one. The club owners must be tearing their hair out.
