Real Mallorca 1 - UCAM Murcia 2

Real Mallorca, buoyed by what for them was a goal feast on Sunday against Huesca, marked the fiesta for National Day by playing host to UCAM Murcia in the third round of the Copa del Rey. The opponents, promoted to the second division this season, drew the league match at the Iberostar Stadium on 25 September.

Showing a number of changes to the team which had beaten Huesca, there wasn't a repeat of the opening five-minute goal burst by Mallorca. Instead it was UCAM who found the back of the net, Juanma scoring after just four minutes, and UCAM who dominated for the first twenty minutes or so. Serbian Lekic, finally starting for Mallorca, had two good chances, Fernando saving well.

Mallorca's coach Vazquez was sent from the touch line on the half hour for his protests after Company was brought down.

Salomao equalised with a spectacular shot ten minutes into the second half, and Mallorca were in control until Imaz settled things in the visitors' favour with twenty minutes left. Vazquez sought to chase the game by bringing on Sunday's hat-trick hero Brandon, but all that was left for Mallorca was for Sabater to squander an opportunity and for Oriol to get his obligatory yellow card.
