Mallorca at home to second-placed Sevilla Atlético, the La Liga side Seville's B team. It was the away side who came out of the blocks fastest, dominating the early exchanges, and midway through the first half they took the lead through Ivi. Mallorca, rarely threatening, then went further behind through a Gual strike three minutes before the break.
Coach Vazquez introduced more firepower by bringing on striker Lekic for the start of the second period, two minutes into which saw Oriol receive his obligatory yellow (rather earlier than usual). A growing corner count for Mallorca was bringing them back into the game and on top, and there was due reward when Brandon, who can't stop scoring at present, pulled one back after quarter of an hour.
Things just got better when Lago equalised soon after having hit the woodwork. Lasso, who had been a constant threat, then hit the bar as Sevilla went in search of the winner in the final ten minutes. Matos saw red for Sevilla in added time of a match for which 2-2 was a fair result.
