American jazz trumpeter Dave Douglas has more than fifty recordings to his name over a career which started in the 1980s after he studied at the world-renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston.

In the 90s he started to record as a band leader and came to perform with a variety of bands at the same time, introducing new genres such as sampling into his work. He has worked with avant-garde saxophonist John Zorn, as has drummer Joey Baron, whose collaborations over the years have included David Bowie and Al Jarreau.

The two go way back but until 2022 had only ever played one duo gig before. Since then, their quartet has become established, or as established as is possible when they are so active with other projects. The quartet will provide the third concert for this year’s Jazz Voyeur Festival.
