What's on in Majorca: 17-23 October
A big week for fairs. The first of the four Inca fairs is this weekend. As usual it has an enormous array of different elements - ecology/sustainability; a wine night; gastronomy; music and more. Elsewhere, there are fairs in Campos, Consell (demons on Saturday night), Felanitx and Santanyi. On a musical note, the Balearic Symphony Orchestra starts its new season on Thursday. Palma's Oktoberfest begins, also on Thursday, and Tapalma 2016 gets under way on Wednesday.

What's on in Majorca: 10-16 October
Fairs in Algaida and Llucmajor this weekend. In the case of Llucmajor on Sunday it is the fourth and final fair (notwithstanding the mini-fair on Monday next week). The Llucmajor Show is also on; it starts on Friday. Algaida's fair is on Saturday: artisan and "alternative" products plus more. The last days of Santa Ponsa's Oktoberfest: it finishes on Wednesday. On Sunday, a day of music and attractions at Puerto Alcudia's Hidropark. The headlining act is Love of Lesbian, one of Spain's leading indie-rock bands.

The Legends Cup ATP Champions Tour event is at Palma Sport & Tennis Club for four days from Thursday. Llucmajor has its next fair on Sunday. There is a good deal of gastronomy knocking around, such as Cala Ratjada's fresh fish weekend that starts on Friday and Puerto Soller's fishy fair on Saturday.

Autumn's here and so are Majorca's fairs. This coming week there are fairs in Alaro, Alcudia, Esporles and Llucmajor. There is also a major fair of different types of music at various locations in Palma from Wednesday. Santa Ponsa's Oktoberfest starts on Thursday. And Cala Ratjada's fireworks display, postponed from the summer fiestas, is on Wednesday.

Santa Ponsa fireworks on Sunday have been cancelled. Calvia town hall says the company staging the fireworks' display had not got safety clearance from the national government's delegation.

Another big week of fiestas: Santa Ponsa's Rei en Jaume get under way; Santa Margalida has the famed La Beata procession on Sunday; Fornalutx stages (perhaps for the last time) its controversial bull-run; Vilafranca has its messy melon battle; and Palma its giant water fight. Danny Howard and Tinie Tempah in Magalluf. La Bohème in Andratx, Canyamel, Palma and Pollensa.

Celebrations for Saint Bartholomew dominate the fiestas' scene in Ses Salines, Soller, Valldemossa and elsewhere. Alcudia has its tourist day. The "final countdown" for summer drawing to a close finds Swedish rockers Europe in Palma and seasons ending - Martin Garrix concludes the BH summer in Magalluf and Stockhausen brings the curtain down on the Pollensa Festival.

An absolutely packed week of fiestas - Cala d'Or, Cala Ratjada, Can Picafort, Llucmajor, Portals Nous being just a few places. Art nights in Campos and Soller. The Creamfields Festival comes to Magalluf.

Fiestas this week in, among other places, Cala d'Or, Cala Millor, Can Picafort, Colonia Sant Jordi, with the highlight being the Moors and Christians battle in Pollensa on Tuesday. Legendary American guitarist John Abercrombie kicks off the Sa Pobla Jazz Festival, the Pollensa Festival starts, David Guetta returns to Magalluf and the remains of ELO are in Port Adriano.
