Finally, after years of delays, from October 6 the EU’s new Entry and Exit System will begin operating. The Entry and Exit System (EES) is designed to monitor non-EU citizens who need a visa for brief visits. The initiative is particularly relevant for individuals from the UK and other non-EU nations who plan to travel to Europe, as it mandates adherence to the new guidelines.

I have an EU passport, my wife has a UK passport. In theory, she is entitled to all the EU benefits at Border Control as myself. In theory that is. However, I predict absolute chaos when the new system comes in, particularly with having separate electronic gates for EU/UK entry at Palma Airport. Will we end up being separated at arrivals? She has slight mobility problems and needs me to be with her during this process. I'm dreading it.
Zoltan TeglasIs there a vote for Christmas coming up? The last one didn't work out very well.
Morgan WilliamsI thought it was Turkey
So they'll all be going to Greece then? Or Costa del Sol? ;-)
Again Humphrey misses the point. EES is primarily a visa waiver. If you need an actual Schengen visa you actually have to apply well in advance at an embassy.
