We were told that the tourist tax was to provide funds for the infrastructure of the tourist resorts and to protect the environment from tourist over usage. Is it right for it to be used for the demolition of the old naval buildings in the Port de Soller? Shouldn't it be the responsibility of the Navy to clear the site before handing it back to Soller? Now we read that tourist tax funds are going to be used to help Arta Farmers. Tourists already pay their taxes in their own countries, where their farmers are also in dire straits, and contribute to the EU. Surely the needs of the Spanish farmers should be met by normal Spanish taxation.
Would the establishment of the long proposed Tramuntana National Park do more for tourism?
Yours faithfully
