As a daily reader of the online Bulletin and annual visitor to Majorca, I thought I would highlight a little anomaly.
On arrival in Majorca, I generally pick up a hire car for the week.
This year, we decided to come for 15 days and bring my recently retired parents along to savour the delights of Soller.
So I thought, we will just take a couple of taxis from the Airport to the Port, shouldn't cost more than 70 euros, but best check. Well, check and check and check again, can I find any price information on Taxi costs from the airport to other parts of the island? No. Nothing at all on the net. I emailed a Majorcan friend who contacted one of Palma's largest taxi firms, who quoted 35 to 40 euros per cab, but could not collect, provide transport with more than four seats and we would have to queue. As it happens I stumbled on a bus company who will transport us all in one luxury minibus for 10 euros more than the two taxis, but it is not the point. May I suggest one of the taxi firms employ a website designer to ensure that this important piece of information is available to travellers. It would be of the greatest assistance for the large number of independent holiday makers still coming to Majorca.
