A final warning

By Jason Moore I thought that the purpose of the monarchy was to give stability and prestige to a country. In Spain this is certainly the case with King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia being real assets. But in Britain sadly, our monarchy has just become an international laughing stock. You can blame the media or the man on the moon but this is the case. Living in Spain perhaps you get a different perspective on British royal scandals. The bottom-line is that the Spanish just can't understand what is happening at the House of Windsor and how our royal family from top to bottom can be so stupid. The latest example is Prince Harry and his Nazi ensignia. I read with interess the letters to the editor to this newspaper and they did a very good job in trying to defend the young royal but I must say that it was like trying to defend the undefendable. Prince Harry has proved once again that he is a wild child who appears to be lacking in common sense. He is no child either, he is a grown man who shouldn't need to be advised on things like not wearing Nazi ensignia. The people who stopped the Nazi advance in 1940 were a lot younger than the Prince and apart from showing a complete lack of respect to the Jewish people he didn't exactly do too much for the morale of the millions of British and Commonwealth veterans who fought the Nazis. Enough is enough. It is not us, the loyal subjects, who are to blame who do our best to defend the monarchy in crisis after crisis, it is the monarchy itself, which is failing Britain. If it's not one member of the royal family it's another. And wouldn't it be a good idea if the vast majority of the young and not so young royals got a job and started repaying the loyalty which Britain shows to them?
