Dear Sir,
AFTER reading Mr Scott's excellent article regarding the recent American presidential election, I would like to help solve his bewilderment at the outcome. Possibly as an American he is too closely involved to see.
Mr Bush constantly reminded the nation, genuinely or cleverly, depending on your viewpoint, that they are at war. And the voters responded as they did, simple as that.
Mr Kerry's great ideas were overshadowed by this. Perhaps in 4 years time the lady in waiting Hilary Clinton, with that steely gaze, will frighten the republicans to defeat, along with the terrorists, of course.
