A LL week we have seen an exchange of views over Magalluf and I think everyone agrees that something needs to be done. It has taken a BBC3 documentary to put the famous resort firmly in the spotlight and now is the time to act before the summer season gets underway. l 1. The Calvia council needs to outlaw street prostitution. The necessary legal framework must be found to rid Magalluf of this problem once and for all. l 2. Excessive drinking needs to be curtailed and there must be a crackdown on under age drinking. l 3. Tourists must be told that Magalluf is not a resort without a sheriff and any law breaking will not be tolerated by the police or the Guardia Civil. It might be an idea to introduce “police spotters” to try and head off any problems. l 4. The local authorities must also introduce a minimum price for alcohol to end the bar wars once and for all. l 5. Large scale pub crawls need to be banned in the interests of public safety and health.
