A lot has changed in sixty years. When Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne Britain was still considered an imperial super-power. Over the last sixty years Britain´s worldwide influence has declined although it is still one of the leading nations of the world, it remains a member of the G8 club of leading world powers and has a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. It is also still one of the richest countries in the world with a democratic system of government which is the envy of others. I state all these facts because sometimes the British do a very good job of putting themselves and their country down. Britain can also be very proud of its monarch, who marks sixty years on the throne. And the British are proud of their Queen and there will be Jubilee celebrations from Deya in Majorca to Dorset and from Son Bonet aerodrome in Palma to RAF Marham in Norfolk and from Santa Ponsa to Saffron Walden. The local schools in Majorca will also be holding Jubilee Events similar to those which are being held by their counterparts in Britain. There is alot to be proud of and this weekend will see the start of the Jubilee celebrations. After a years of bad news it is rather nice that there is a party to celebrate. But it is not an ordinary party it is a British party. Queen Elizabeth II can also be very pround. Sixty years on and her subjects love her as much as the day when she was crowned. Quite a milestone.
