You would have thought that yesterday´s Spanish newspapers would have been full of reports of the massive Spanish bank bailout, but not so. One Spanish newspaper even suggest that Spanish banks only needed 70 BILLION EUROS. We are not talking pesetas we are talking euros! In some ways full marks to the Spanish government who managed to find a positive spin even on a major bank bailout. The Mariano Rajoy government is doing a rather good job in Spain of blaming the financial crisis on everyone apart from the Spanish government. And it does appear to be working. The football is proving to be a major smoke-screen at the moment and then once that finishes the government will think of something else, like the Olympics or Wimbledon! To some extent you do not get the impression that Spain is experiencing one of its worst financial recessions. The bars and restaurants in Palma are full and there doesn´t appear to be a sence of doom and gloom. Perhaps the government campaign is working. Spain has a rather good way of dealing with a recession. It focuses on the positive rather than the negative. Unfortunately the country is in a major economic mess and the recent bank bailout will have to be repaid at some stage. There is even speculation that Spain will also need a bailout at some stage. Whatever, happens the government will continue to identify the positives rather than the negatives. Crisis, what crisis?
