On Friday night I watched the Germany v. Greece clash in the Playa de Palma, the undisputed home of German tourism on the island. Bars, hotels and clubs were packed with a small army of German fans, all appeared to be in their late teens or early twenties and all were wearing replica German football shirts. Now, there must have been in excess of 25'000 Germans in the Playa de Palma watching the game. But I am glad to report that there were no incidents at all. After the match the Germans left their bars and hotels and had a late night snack on the promenade. The German team are well disciplined and so are their fans. 11p.m. after a hard night watching the game and it is dinner time. I think you can safely say that Germany will be the team to beat at this year´s tournament. And they are going to be hard to beat. Apart from being a great team they are supported by a great set of fans. It will be such a shame if England prosper to the semi-finals and send Germany home, the Playa de Palma will be in mourning!
