I am greatly upset that my wife and I can no longer take a Winter break to Majorca as we have done for many years in the past
We looked to see if there was any availability of cheap flights or hotels, but regret that the usual carriers and providers have nothing until March at best.
What on earth does Majorca do from End of September until End of March.
Closing the island to tourists will never solve the current economic problem.
Majorca is a tourist island who's economy depends upon the footfall of tourists a close down period of 6 months must have serious implications not only to the airport and hotels, but to all of the ancillary service providers such as taxi companies, food growers and suppliers, bars, restaurants etc.
Please remember that U.K. residents will continue to want winter sunshine.
If it cannot be found in Majorca, it will be found elsewhere in places like Egypt, Turkey, Canaries etc.
Once you start getting used to a new resort, you tend to stay with it, and so the problems for Majorca simply get worse
Is Majorca listening? When can we come back for winter sunshine?
It doesn't take a genius to work out what is needed.
Get it started in one resort as an experiment and see what happens.
