So did he or didn´t he? Did the Chief whip Andrew Mitchell call a police officer a “Pleb” or was it fabricated in a police report? Now, this is a serious allegation especially when you take into account that we are dealing with a senior cabinet minister. Police are investigating reports that the whole episode could have been fabricated by a police officer. Now, the row not only cost Mitchell his job it also damaged the Conservative Party who are often accused of being “upper class toffs.”Even if the evidence was fabricated unfortunately the damage has already been done. The Metropolitan police has alot of questions to answer and the investigation should not only be focused on a single officer. While the whole “Pleb row” was in full swing the police federation were quite vocal backing the officer who had allegedly been insulted. I agree with Prime Minister David Cameron; these are serious allegations especially if a serving officer has fabricated evidence. The police should also try and discover how the whole episode, fabricated or not, was leaked to a top tabloid. Are we dealing with a conspiracy against the government or is it just the actions of one police officer? The whole episode does not show the police in a good light especially on top of the arrest of a series of police officers accused of leaking information to the media. The Metropolitan Police needs to clean-up its act before the public start losing faith in its police officers, which would be very sad.
