Samantha Cameron who this week has been in Lebanon visiting the thousands of Syrian refugees in camps there. This was her first solo foreign mission as wife of Britain's prime minister and she undertook it in her role as a Save the Children charity ambassador. Clearly she was deeply shocked by the plight of the children she saw, saying that “day to day more and more innocent children's lives are being smashed to pieces.” Save the Children is one of some fifteen UK charities working in several neighbouring countries of Syria among an estimated three million refugees.
