DEAR SIR

Electricity Company “RIP OFF” I RECENTLY had an ICP switch fitted (by an independent electrician) to comply with the latest regulations. The electricity supplier came out and fitted two seals on the new switch. I received a factura for approx 120 Euros-not for fitting the seals but for increasing the potencia, for which the company had done nothing except for a small amount of paper work. What a “RIP OFF” Yours sincerely

DEAR SIR, TOURISM

I suppose the old saying the more things change the more they stay the same applies here.
I see there have been various letters complaining already about the cost of car hire on the Island.
I also saw this on the Channel four UK web site.
Quote:
Where do you need a licence to offer holiday rentals?
In the Balearics, you cannot rent out private residential apartments. The department of tourism in Palma, the regional capital, confirms this, and adds that licences to rent detached properties are no longer being granted on Majorca. It is a similar story in the Canary Islands, because the authorities in both are keen to promote hotels over private rentals. Confusingly, licences are still being granted in Minorca.

So, regardless of what is said the island appears to be still ready to shoot itself in the foot!
