...for Mohamed bin Hammam of Quatar who has decided to challenge Sepp Blatter for the presidency of FIFA, international football's ruling body, on 1 June. Blatter is approaching his 13th year in the top job and the longer he stays the less FIFA seems able to deal with the pressing problems that face the game. Blatter has promised to stand down in 2015 if he is elected for a 4th term but a new presence is needed before then. Michel Platini, UEFA president, might join the contest but a single opponent against Blatter is desirable.
