... to Lord Rees, Britain's Astronomer Royal, who has accepted the annual one million pound Templeton Prize awarded for “an exceptional contribution to affirming life's spiritual dimension.” The problem is that Lord Rees, one of the world's most notable scientists, is an atheist and as such his critics believe that he should not be mixing science and spirituality, reason and faith, however great the temptation. Previous recipients of the Templeton Prize include Mother Theresa and Billy Graham.
