Dear Sir,

Excellent editorial, letter from Gerry Mulligan and coverage re. Baroness Thatcher. Margaret Thatcher's death well illustrates the phenomenon that we only read and listen to what we want to read and want to listen to - hence our choice of newspapers and MDB columns to read for entertainment and information and which to skim over.

Many and hopefully most people will remember Baroness Thatcher as the incisive surgeon who restored a very sick Britain to good health and to a respected role on the world stage. Others seem only to remember the cancerous flesh which needed to be amputated.

If I have the misfortune to be taken into Son Espases I would hope to be in the hands of a Mrs Thatcher rather than an indecisive junior who is unable to stomach the sight of blood.
