DEAR SIR

I must admit I could not disagree more than Jason Moore's comments on the “Full Inclusive here to stay” debate, well not as long as Majorca has to depend on almost everything from the Mainland.

75 % of the trucks coming off ferries are bringing food into the Island, in the past 12 months, fuel and ferries have increased by 20%, The age of cheap transport from the mainland is over, as I have explained before, a shipping container is cheaper to send to Australia from Barcelona that it is to send it to Palma.

Volume of scale some may say, well if it costs 2€ a day more to feed every holiday maker on the all inclusive.
Something has got to give, and in this present financial market, that is quality, so maybe in the short term the islands might hold onto this part of their market, but in the long term, I don't think so.

Tourists will be off to better value for money destinations
What Majorca should be doing is becoming more self sufficient, now I am not Percy Thrower, but I have never seen a green house here, and then onto poultry and livestock, has Majorca anything?

It is time for Majorca to take stock ! (no pun intended).
As much as I would like to see the old cheap fish and chips, bucket and spade brigade back here, its not going to happen.
Majorca cannot go back to what it was twenty odd years ago. My money, for what it's worth, cash in your bar or restaurant and buy yourself a nice finca in the country, and start producing good quality food.

Value for money is not always being the cheapest! Maybe there is Government funding for this? Now where is my phonebook?
