To the Spanish government whose new mortgage protection plans offers people who lose their homes limited protection. The Spanish government had been under pressure to take action after thousands of evictions across the country. Up to 400'000 people have lost their homes. The new ruling does offer some financial help to those in need but anti-eviction protesters have said that the new legislation does not go far enough and will leave many people without any protection.
