Dear Sir, I AM writing to bring to your attention the dangerous work being carried out on the Paseo Maritimo in Cala Millor, near the Hotel Voramax. The local council of Son Servera is replacing street lamps, and are placing steel reinforcing rods in the pavement, completely unprotected. These rods, over one-metre high, and around 10 mm in diameter, present a high risk of serious injury or death to any person who has the misfortune to fall on top of any one of them. Considering the large number of cyclists and joggers using the Paseo Maritimo, the chance of an accident seems very high. Some years ago, in our town, a similar temporary fence of steel rods caused the death of a footballer who ran onto a rod which punctured his body instantly, causing internal bleeding.
