RE the letter from Derek Norman in Tuesdays edition I am lucky enough to be able to visit the Island several times a year and I have noticed a dangerous and repeating change.

My preferred renter at the Airport overcharged me by 15 euro in December last year. I emailed them and they apologised, blaming their IT system and refunded the amount. In March they overcharged me by 12 euro and when I queried this they told me (by email again) that this was for local taxes for filling up hire cars! I am currently in Majorca and emailed the company asking for a senior manager to contact me on what I believe to be a fraudulent matter.

This practise must be stopped at source - the hire companies already make additional profits from renters returning vehicles with paid for fuel remaining.
