...for Sky Sports which marked the 20th anniversary of its founding during the past week. Before 1991 the BBC and ITV had done their bit with sports coverage but there was always the feeling that, except on Saturday afternoons, it was second best to other programmes. Sky Sports changed that and gave football, rugby and cricket, and many other sports, the prominence their following warranted. It did more, by using new TV technologies to give viewers as good or even a better view of the game than referees and umpires have.
