By Jason Moore WELL she is back. Margarita Najera, the long-time Mayor of Calvia and one of the most successful socialists politicians in the Balearics, is back in government. She has spent the last four years clearing her name in the law courts and now she has been named the new Balearic minister for Employment. Najera will give the new Balearic government some muscle and if necessary some fire-power. Like her or not Najera is an able politician and this new coalition government is going to need experienced politicians. She is also a strong trade-unionist and probably employment (from one perspective) is an ideal department for her. One thing for sure Najera is going to be a key player in this new government.

Yesterday we received a visited from the former Vice President of the Balearic government and now leader of the Partido Popular in the islands, Rosa Estaras. She said that her role in the coming months would be to keep the party together after one of the most difficult times for the PP in the Balearics in their history. The Partido Popular are lucky to have Rosa Estaras and if anyone can help restore the morale of the party, it will be her. She is confident that her party will win the general elections next year and the everything can change once again.
