DEAR SIR,

MY family have spent our holidays in the port for some 30 years and have heard over the years the comments of the restaurant and bar owners such as “what a great year” in the nineties to the present day “Business is terrible and we don't know if we can survive another year” etc.

The “All inclusive holidays” are not helping so they claim WHY DON'T THEY AND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES wake up to the fact that what is being offered in the port at night is not attracting the holiday makers to leave their hotels who wants to be constantly surrounded by LOOKIE LOOKIE MEN.

Last week we counted 8 of these hawkers on the square and whilst we were having dinner we accosted at least 5 times with Pirate dvds, watches, hats and other useless items what do the contribute to the local economy very little.

In the past we used to love spending time in the Port during the evenings where there were street entertainers, jewellery sales stalls, spray painting, moving statues, Troubadours' and Majorcan folk dancers I am informed that this was all stopped by the Authorities. It is time for those in power to look at how to bring more spending power to the Port and a look back at recent history would be a good place to start .

We are returning in September for another break as we do enjoy Majorca and hope we will continue do so but something has to be done to improve the Port and its evening entertainment .

Yours sincerely,
