Does anything go in our resorts? Can laws and regulations be broken just because people are on holiday and want a good time? I ask this question as a result of the response on our Facebook page regarding my Viewpoint in yesterday´s newspaper about my complaint to the police about loud  noise and music from the hotel opposite late at night.  As I said yesterday I am not a kill-joy and I also understand that tourists come to the island to have a good time but in the interests of tourists and residents alike laws can´t be flouted. Tourism is the lifeblood of this island and obviously Iwant the best for the island. Over recent years there has been a decline in the number of families who are coming on holiday to this island. They have gone elsewhere to resorts in Minorca and in other places in Spain. Let us remember that this island was built on family tourism. Now programmes on German and British television about Magalluf and the Playa de Palma may bring more stag and hen nights to the island but they are going to do little to attract family tourism. “What happens in Majorca, stays in Majorca” appears to be slogan this year.  If we want a return to the good old days of a longer season and more family tourists then the days of “anything goes” in our resorts should be scrapped.  Everytime a programme about Magalluf appears on British television there is an outcry on the island but unfortunately would-be tourists just go elsewhere.
