Dear Sirs, I WISH to file a complaint about the service we received in Palma de Mallorca airport when we arrived here after a long trans-Atlantic journey.
On the outbound journey we routed PMI-BCN-Munich-JFK with Lufthansa. In Barcelona, Munich and JFK the child push-chair was brought up to the door of the plane, making our time and transit through these airports quick and easy. Carrying a 12kg child in arms through large airports, after many hours of flying, with other tired children complaining is not easy. On the return journey we routed JFK Frankfurt - PMI. (All Lufthansa) Again, in Frankfurt, the child's push chair was brought to the door of the plane, making our long stop-over and transit through the airport simple. On arrival in PMI we requested that the push chair be brought to the door of the plane. The ground personnel refused, and assured us that in the terminal building carts with child seats were available. We walked the whole length from terminal area C to the baggage claim, and not once did we see a single cart for children. This was after a very long and tiring journey, and made the last leg of our travels a lot more tiresome. This has happened time and time again, but ONLY EVER IN PMI. In every other airport that we have traveled as a family (many), we have always been able to retrieve the push chair at the door of the plane. Why in PMI do they refuse to do this, as it is standard procedure EVERYWHERE ELSE we have been? What would have happened if my wife was alone? There is no way she would have been able to walk this distance.
And I think of the tourist arriving to Majorca with small children. The first encounters they have in the Island are lazy ground staff, and a long tiring walk in the airport carrying heavy children.
I look forward to receiving your explanation for this exceptional lack of fundamental consideration towards passengers traveling with small children.
Kind regards, George Parkinson
